When a grid is the better answer

A slider hides most of what it holds, which is fine for a related row and poor for a category or a landing page where people want to see the whole range at once. A grid shows every product you asked for. It also scrolls with the page, so nothing has to be dragged.

What stays the same

The product source, the card design, always or when pointed at, and the picture when pointed at all carry over. Change your mind and go back to a slider, and the settings are still there. The number of columns follows the number of products in view that you set per device, so three, two and one by default.

What goes away

Without a slider there is nothing for a transition or an image effect to act on, so those settings no longer apply. The picture when pointed at takes over on hover. If you want a grid whose cards morph on a canvas and open a quick view, that is the Morph Grid block in Pro, which is a different thing.

Questions

Is the grid free?

Yes, both arrangements are in the free plugin, with the two free card designs. The other 20 designs work in a grid with Pro.

Does it use a canvas?

No. A grid is plain HTML and images, so it adds no drawing work to the page.

Sample products throughout. Pro starts at $19 a year.
