Echo, a reel whose products leave frames behind
One product is centred, and when the reel moves each picture drags a trail of copies, like frames of a film. The faster it goes, the longer the trail. Then it draws back in. Pro
The four ways
Frames is the film strip, with shrinking copies and a slight tint. Ghost uses fine, nearly same-sized copies that fade quickly, the most polite of the four. Arc swings the copies upward along a curve. Spiral turns them in tight circles as well, which is by far the loudest. All four are the same mathematics with other numbers, and you can switch between them above.
What the trail needs
A strong silhouette on a plain background, as trails are made of the picture itself. A red shoe on grey gives a beautiful trail; a busy lifestyle shot gives mud. Autoplay shows it off without anyone touching the row, because the trail only exists while the row is moving. Four seconds between moves leaves enough time to read a price.
Details on the card
The name, price and button stay on each card, in the card's own box. The trail is drawn behind the moving picture, on the canvas, and doesn't carry the text along. So while a card is at rest, which is nearly all of the time, it looks like any other product card.
Good uses
A short reel of a new drop, or best sellers on a home page, with three or so in view. It is not for a long list, since it moves one product at a time. And it is more fun on a large screen than on a phone, where one card is in view and the trail runs off the edge sooner.
Questions
Is it part of Pro?
Yes. Set Layout to Echo, then choose the way.
What about reduced motion?
There is no trail then. The reel just changes product without the effect.
Sample products throughout. Pro starts at $19 a year.
