Split effect for WooCommerce product sliders
Fling the row. The harder you throw it, the more you see.
The colour channels come apart while the row moves, more with more speed. Red and blue separate at the edges of things and come back together when the row slows.
It is like a badly aligned print or a cheap lens, and the fact that it disappears at rest means it never damages the product shot.
Comes with Pro. Pro starts at $19 a year.
Put it on
- Black and white products
- Speakers, keyboards and cameras. The coloured fringe is the only colour on the page.
- Graphic, high-contrast photos
- Sharp outlines give the fringes something to split on.
- Pairing with stretch or a transition
- It stacks well. Stretch plus a little split is a nice combination.
Keep it off
- Soft pastel images
- Without edges there is nothing to separate, so it reads as faint blur.
- Shops selling on colour accuracy
- While it moves, the colours are wrong. Brief, but wrong.
Settings
The names here are gpu slider's, which draws it. The defaults on the sliders are its defaults.
In the block, in three steps
- Add the Product Slider block to your page, and under Products choose one category.
- Leave Layout on Row, then pick Split under Effect. It comes with Pro.
- Look at a hard edge in your photo while dragging. It should fringe clearly. If not, use an image with more contrast.
